Warwick Township was originally formed on February 13, 1773, by eighteen residents who decided to name the community after the town in Central England. At the time, the area was home to many Scots-Irish Presbyterians. The Neshaminy Presbyterian Church is one of the earliest religious associations in PA and dates back to 1726.
A historical site in Jamison, the Moland House, was General George Washington’s headquarters from August 10, 1777, until August 23, 1777. General Washington held a “Council of War” with his four Major Generals and six Brigadier Generals in that house, which is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Warwick is also the location of where the original American flag, designed by Betsy Ross and given to Washington, was first flown. Today, Jamison in Warwick Township is a great place to live and provides a great sense of community and historical pride.
