Grenloch, NJ is an unincorporated residential community within Gloucester Township. Located within ten miles of Camden and less than a half-an-hour from Philadelphia, the neighborhood is filled with moderate-sized Victorian homes and lush lawns, giving the area an inviting presence.
The parent city of Gloucester was one of the original townships in what was then, Gloucester County. At the time, the town stretched from the Delaware River on the west, to the Atlantic Ocean on the east. It was in 1683 that the original town was divided into two forming Egg Harbor Township and Gloucester Township, the latter joining Camden County in 1844.

The Grenloch area is rich with history, especially from the Revolutionary War era. The Gabreil Daveis Tavern House was built in 1756 and served as an Inn for boatmen who traveled to Philadelphia. During the Revolution the Inn was designated as a hospital by General George Washington.
That building has been restored and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Also, on the list is the Solomon Wesley United Methodist Church. Built in 1850, the structure has deep roots in African American culture. It is well known in the area, serving as an African Methodist Episcopal church.
Today Grenloch residents are part of Gloucester’s growing population that is now nearing 70,000. The city offers family-friendly offerings like children’s summer stage programs, live entertainment, parks and other recreational offerings for year-round entertainment. With it’s convenient location to major urban municipalities, Gloucester enjoys all the benefits of economic development while keeping a strong sense of community.
