The name “Brigantine” came from a type of 1600’s ship, called a brigantine, perhaps one of the first of over three hundred vessels wrecked on the notorious offshore shoals of fish during a two-hundred-year period. The legendary pirate, Captain William Kidd, is said to have buried treasure under Brigantine Beach sand, which has never been found.
Another found “treasure” of the environmentally aware residents of Brigantine is Hutchinson’s plumbing and our superior HVAC services. We have delivered the most expertly trained plumbers, and skilled heating and air conditioning contractors to this beach town throughout the years.
Brigantine has developed a small island community with a population just over 9,400. Originally named Brigantine Beach Borough, the city went through multiple name changes before settling on Brigantine in 1924. Known for picturesque beaches and grand homes, Brigantine is a beautiful location for those who are looking for a family friendly destination on the Jersey shore. Once it ranked the 36th best place to live in NJ. Families can spend the day relaxing on the beach, or for those who are more adventurous, it’s a perfect spot for kayaking and sailing.
The city is more than just sandy beaches; there is also an emphasis on preserving the local ecology. The northern part of the island is home to a section of the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge offers crucial habitats for endangered birds. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center here serves as the only facility of its type in the state. The center has rehabilitated approximately four thousand mammals since it opened in 1978.
Hutchinson is a good match for this green community. We are certified to rate your home or business for energy efficiency, saving residents money through state and federal programs. You can save money by following our air conditioning guidelines. The Hutchinson difference: Hutchinson has been providing expert heating repair services and installation since 1948.
We approach home comfort using criteria from the Department of Environmental Protection’s Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program. That and Hutchinson’s rigorous training standards, assure your system will be installed correctly and operating at peak efficiency. We do it all transparently, up front, and with a guarantee.
One of the iconic markers of this beach town is the Brigantine Lighthouse. Built in 1926, it was constructed in an effort to attract new residents. Because the lighthouse was built too far from the shore and stood too low to be used, it has been repurposed several times over the years. At one point it was the headquarters for the Brigantine Police Department.
Because Brigantine is an island, there is only one road that leads into the city. The Atlantic City-Brigantine Connector is a 2.3 mile stretch of road that connects the island to Atlantic City. We travel this bridge often to provide local HVAC contractors to work here. Our plumbers will come out day or night. If you have an emergency, our staff is on hand ready to save the day! With Hutchinson, you are always in good hands!
