We all know and love Ripley\u2019s Believe It or Not! Atlantic City \u2013 the popular destination featuring 400 mind-boggling exhibits and artifacts and 14 themed galleries.<\/p>\n
While the prime boardwalk location is a plus for visitors, the salty, ocean air is tough on HVAC equipment.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur HVAC units take a beating from the salty, ocean air and typically need to be replaced every 5-7 years,\u201d says Chris Connelly, manager of Ripley\u2019s. \u201cIt got to the point where the units were no longer serviceable and had to replaced.\u201d<\/p>\n
Chris turned to Hutchinson<\/em><\/strong>, a participating contractor for New Jersey\u2019s Clean Energy Program (NJCEP) Direct Install<\/strong>, to address HVAC and lighting needs for the 12,000 sq. foot building. The program covers up to 70 percent of energy efficiency upgrades.<\/p>\n Hutchinson installed three energy efficiency HVAC units and converted all interior lighting \u2013 from incandescent and fluorescent \u2013 to energy efficient LED.<\/p>\n \u201cOur building has thousands of interior lightbulbs and a couple dozen need to be replaced every day. \u00a0LED is a cost effective solution – the lighting lasts longer and we\u2019ll save on utility bills and manpower from not having to swap out the bulbs.\u201d<\/p>\n Ripley\u2019s is already experiencing a cost savings of $300\/month in June\/July year-over-year even though two of the three units weren\u2019t working for part of last summer and the three new units ran continuously this summer.<\/p>\n Hutchinson also connected Ripley\u2019s with South Jersey Gas\u2019 Smart Energy Partners program, a complement to NJCEP that provided 0% financing for 5 years for Direct Install.<\/p>\n \u201cWorking with Hutchinson has been great,\u201d says Chris. \u201cThey kept me informed every step of the way throughout the process and enabled us to take advantage of energy-saving rebates.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
