Here are three important things to remember before turning the heat on this winter:

  • Check your air filter. Make sure your air filter is new and clean before turning on the heat. It is important to keep air filters clean because they maintain the air quality in your home.
  • Check your return and supply vents. Check to see that all of the vents in each room are open, even if you’re not using that room. Also, make sure there is not dust or debris clinging to the metal grates. If there is, be sure to wipe them down.
  • Upgrade to a Programmable Thermostat. A programmable thermostat will allow you to better control the temperature in your home, saving money and increasing comfort.
  • Schedule a complete preventative maintenance. It’s important to have your heating system checked annually to make sure that your unit has no issues. The last thing you want to happen is to have your heating system go on the fritz during a deep freeze.

Once you have completed the above steps then you can rest easy knowing that you’ll be able to stay warm inside when winter’s cold and frigid temperatures hit. If you do need heating services in Gloucester or nearby communities this year, be sure to give us a call.
